Dickie Felton

I write about music and football

Morrissey plays two gigs at New York's Terminal 5 and I'm not there. Run out of money, run out of annual leave. So it's a no-show from Mr Felton.

But from 3,000 miles away I still feel the excitement through social media. Morrissey fans have been posting photos from this latest US tour and it looks like they are having a ball. My Moz journeying is curtailed at least until 2013. A UK tour would be lovely...

Still, there's plenty to get excited about here at home. And thrills are being supplied by my local non-league football team instead of a 53-year-old singer. Marine AFC, born in 1894, play in white and remain unbeaten in the Evo-Stick league this season.

Last weekend I travelled to FC Trafford (near the childhood home of Steven Patrick) to watch Marine beat the opposition in a stirring encounter FA Cup encounter. Wild scenes on the terraces as 140 Marine fans went berserk at a tremendous win.

Next stop Macclesfield away. It's not Manhattan or Morrissey, but its proving to be tremendous fun.
